Why go to Dallas when you can go to downtown Fort Worth?
Dallas is full of people who wished they lived in New York City.
Fort Worth is real Texas.
However, Dallas beats the hell out of Houston.
(just thought i'd share....sent to me from a friend)
good afternoon!
did you know that there are at least 50 free things to see and do in dallas?
Why go to Dallas when you can go to downtown Fort Worth?
Dallas is full of people who wished they lived in New York City.
Fort Worth is real Texas.
However, Dallas beats the hell out of Houston.
i love this show....anyone else?
it's so hilarious..... it's by the same folks that do family guy.
I like Family Guy but cannot get into American Dad.
I think I have trouble with the title character. I cannot identify with him at all, nor do I find him remotely like anyone I know. I know people like the characters on Family Guy, South Park, the Simpsons and for old political satire All In The Family.
I do not think American Dad is straight up satire like the other shows I have mentioned but an expression of liberal bias against America. South Park makes fun of all political nonsense from all sides. Equal skewering of all political ideologies makes South Park's political jokes funny.
American Dad seems to me to be just a bashing of American patriotism. I will give it another viewing to see if my first impressions are correct.
during your time as a jw were there any instances where other jws of the opposite sex young or old, attempted to sexually seduce you?
Unfortunately no. As a horny but celibate young man it would have been a dream come true.
janine turner played mary margaret 'maggie' o'connell in the series northern exposure (one of my favorite shows)... recently i saw her in a commercial for restasis, a herpes medication.
i thought maybe she was just doing a one-time deal, but when i checked the restasis website (http://www.restasis.com) and there she was on the first page!
apparently she is their new primary ad actor!
The ad says that the drug has not been tested on people with herpes, it is not a herpes medicine.
so what's an idiom?
they are an expression or saying that mean a certain thing, but yet the words in that expression, taken by themselves, give you an entirely different meaning.
in other words, you can never understand the meaning of an idiom by studying the words that make up that idiom.. here are a few:.
S**t or get off the pot, means do something!
All hat and no cattle, means not being able to back up your claim, a liar.
Running with the dry cows, from my grandparents generation means, staying out all night. Cows that need to be milked come home to the barn each night.
Head for the barn, means go home.
I worked with an Englishman in the late 70's and he had a very hard time understanding my idioms.
since its publication in 1957, atlas shrugged has sold more than five million copies.
perhaps a measure of the book's continuing influence may be estimated from the results of a survey conducted jointly by the library of congress and book-of-the-month club in 1991. the survey asked readers which books had made a difference in people's lives.
the results found atlas shrugged placing second only to the bible.
whiskeyjack:
Ayn Rand's philosophy Objectivism is divided into three distinct schools of thought as well as individuals who are not part of any "organized" Objectivism.
The Ayn Rand Institute ( in Southern California ) is in my opinion dogmatic, unfriendly and the source of the name "Randroid." If you do not accept their interpretation of Rand you are an apostate and worse then a Socialist. Agree with them 100% or go to Objectivist Hell. Since I am a member of the Libertarian Party the Ayn Rand Institute would not even allow me the privilege to join in their discussions. There are actual disclaimers stating "Libertarians need not apply"
The Objectivist Center ( in Washington DC ) began in opposition to ARI intolerance and it's founder David Kelly was "disfellowshipped" by ARI. TOC looks to Rand as the begining of the discussion not the end. I recommend people interested in Objectivism to contact the Objectivist Center and not the Ayn Rand Institute. The Objectivist Center wants non Objectivists to paticipate and hopefully learn as much as they can to improve their lives, businesses and communities.
New Zealand is the home of the Sense Of Life Objectivists. They are more tolerant of different thought than ARI and completely unlike the Ayn Rand Institute SOLO has a sense of humor but are not as willing to work with others who are not Objectivists.
i'm flipping through the channels today and i happend upon a 30 min interview with mr cruise.
i was curious and there was nothing else on so i decided to watch it.
this was a 30 minute advertisement for scientology.
I rember reading in the early 80's that Hubbard died in 1981. His church said no, he was in seclusion writing a book.
In 1986 a revised will of Hubbard was discovered by the church giving all of Hubbard's money to the church and not Hubbard's children. ( I do not remember if he had one child or more )
Within a day of anouncing the new will the church anounced the death of L. Ron Hubbard and the release of the book Battlefield Earth.
I think the church kept Hubbard's death a secret for five years until they could forge a new will.
Battlefield Earth is a GREAT novel and a HORRIBLE movie.
this question has most likely been asked before but i must've missed it.

I think Pole's avatar shows he is not Charlton Heston. Or radical abolitionist John Brown.

A line from "Cherokee Fiddle" a song by Michael Martin Murphy from the 70's and butchered in the movie Urban Cowboy goes,
"Now the Indians are dressing up like Cowboys and the Cowboys are putting leather and torquoise on."
